Upper School Admissions Coordinator

JOB DESCRIPTION.

Second Baptist School is currently seeking an UPPER SCHOOL ADMISSIONS COORDINATOR for the 2025-2026 school year.

  • Position Title: Upper School Admissions Coordinator
  • Reports To: Director of Admissions
  • Work Calendar: Eleven Month
  • The coordinator position is separate from, but complements, the role of serving on the varsity coaching staff at Second Baptist School. As such, strong consideration will be given to candidates who are qualified to serve as an assistant coach.

JOB SUMMARY.

The upper school admissions coordinator, under the general direction of the director of admissions, is responsible for building relationships with prospective students and families for grades 9-12 and guiding them through the admissions process. Through unique campus engagement, including school events and tours, the coordinator introduces upper school student life, including academic, arts and athletic programs, to candidates and their families.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES.

Essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop and execute a grade 9 admissions plan to create a strong pool of applicants.
  • Develop and execute admissions screening and process steps for candidates applying for grades 10-12.
  • Develop, coordinate, and execute engaging admissions experiences that highlight the upper school to prospective students and applicants.
    • This includes organizing tours, events, and shadow visits, in collaboration with admissions, faculty, staff, and students.
  • Develop and foster relationships with prospective students and families through phone calls, emails, tours and event interaction.
  • Guide prospective families through application and decision process.
  • Maintain positive relationships with families who do not choose or are not invited to attend SBS.
  • Connect prospective families with other SBS departments including academics, arts and athletics.
  • Build strong rapport with the upper school administrative team and faculty.
  • Build relationships with feeder schools and organize school visits to introduce SBS to their middle school students and families.
  • Foster relationships between SBS departments and feeder school counterparts.
  • Build relationships with community partners to generate inquiries and applicants.
  • Plan and organize decision meetings for upper school candidates.
  • Assist the director of admissions with the coordination of the Student Ambassador Program.
  • Collect and report data on upper school admissions activities.
  • Contribute to the strategic vision of the Office of Admissions.
  • Contribute to and participate in all Office of Admissions prospective and new student/family events. (Approximately 2-3 admissions and school events per month)
  • Assist the director of admissions with special projects.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED.

To perform this job successfully, candidates must:

  • Possess a strong desire to serve in a Christian college preparatory school.
  • Have 3-5 years of independent/private school or college admissions experience or comparable event planning, advancement, fundraising, marketing or communications experience.
  • Have exceptional written and verbal communication skills along with strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Have mastery of Microsoft Word, Excel and Google Workspace.
  • Be able to attend 2-3 monthly evening and weekend admissions and school events.

Prior knowledge of Second Baptist Church and School and previous experience with planning/project management platforms such as Trello and Blackbaud K-12 products or similar independent school products are considered a plus.
